  • Cost-Effective
Offers affordable pricing plans and a free tier option, making it an economical choice for smaller mining operations or hobbyists.

Possible disadvantages of Hive OS

  • Learning Curve
While the interface is user-friendly, new users might face a learning curve due to the broad feature set and technical nature of mining software.
  • Subscription Costs
Although it offers a free tier, scaling up your mining operation might require a paid subscription, which could add to operational costs.
  • Dependency on Internet
Requires a consistent and stable internet connection for optimal performance and remote management, which might be a limitation in areas with unreliable connectivity.
  • Limited Offline Support
If there are connectivity issues, managing or troubleshooting rigs offline can become challenging, as the system is heavily reliant on its online platform.
  • Potential Security Risks
As with any online platform, there is a risk of security compromises, and users need to ensure their accounts and mining operations are secure from potential threats.

CGMiner features and specs

Possible disadvantages of CGMiner

  • Complex Setup
New users may find CGMiner challenging to set up due to its command-line interface and lack of a graphical user interface (GUI).
  • Decreased GPU Focus
Although it initially supported GPU mining extensively, its focus has shifted more towards ASIC mining, which might not cater to pure GPU miners.
  • Hardware Limitations
It may not support the latest mining hardware immediately, requiring updates or additional work from the community.
  • Potential Security Risks
Being open-source means anyone can distribute modified versions that could contain malicious code.
  • Resource Intensive
May require significant system resources to run smoothly, which can lead to increased power consumption and heat output.

  • Weird Hive OS issue
I added a new rig and on hiveos.farm it says the rig is offline and no statuses show on the cards. However, I can connect to it via shellinabox and its online and running, I can also see it running on my miner page. I have refreshed and even rebooted rig. Have any of you seen this?
