Personally I use GdLauncher since it's really simple to use, it also automatically installs open jdk for you, something that basically makes the game run better than normal java, and can still manually download mods that have third-party downloads disabled. Source: about 2 years ago

I like both GDLauncher and PolyMC, but I haven't played much Minecraft since Overwolf bought Curse and made it significantly harder for 3rd party launchers to download packs, so it's possible that it's more difficult to use them these days. Source: about 2 years ago

So I downloaded the ATLauncher (https://atlauncher.com/) which is basically a tool for installing modpacks in Minecraft.
