If you open a web browser on a computer and go to criterionchannel.com and play a movie, you can rapidly tap the spacebar and it sort of steps frame by frame. It could take you a few tries, but you may be able to pause on the right frame doing this. Source: about 1 year ago
Makes sense. criterionchannel.com is pretty hard to pass up at $10/month for thousands of titles (for me anyway). I do keep around some discs purely because they look better than streaming but I don't think streaming is the choke point there for the most part. If I was really into newer films / big productions I would probably upgrade everything to 4K and start collecting. Source: almost 2 years ago
As someone pointed out these aren't all in the disc collection, but they ARE all on criterionchannel.com …. Source: almost 2 years ago
It's also avail on criterionchannel.com w/ other Kurosawa films and other famous Japanese films like Kwaidan and Harakiri. Source: about 2 years ago
I get screeners but criterionchannel.com has the best selection of great films. Source: almost 3 years ago
This is not an ad: I've seen a few YouTube creators who are into film (Broey Deschanel is an example) who are sponsored by a platform called Mubi: https://mubi.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
Mubi (https://mubi.com/) is nice. You don’t get a huge catalogue but they cycle it very regularly with varying thematic focus and showcase a mix of old movies and new art releases. It feels a bit like a cinema club. I recommend. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I recommend Mubi. Just quality stuff, opposite of Netflix. https://mubi.com/. Source: almost 2 years ago
Well you can go to mubi.com and sign up directly with them. I did this with BFI and tried to do it with Shudder but for BFI their web player wasn't as good as Prime and with Shudder I literally couldn't get the website to accept any of my cards. So now, if there is an Amazon Channel available for a service, I tend to go via that for ease. Source: about 2 years ago
Not a specific movie, but if you go onto mubi.com and browse there seems to be a lot of movies like this up your alley. I'm not crazy about mundane films but there seems to be a lot of simple life indie movies there. Source: over 2 years ago
