I don't have a fancy camera for streaming. I used to use my Logitech webcam, which was fine, but when I finally got a decent iPhone, I was like the camera on this is amazing! So I decided to use that for live streaming. Camo makes it possible to do that, and it has plenty of niceties like zooming, watermarks, filters, etc. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
I've been using the Camo app for over a year. Works excellent. Even supports viewing the camera over wifi. No cable necessary. It is free for a basic account. Find it here: https://reincubate.com/camo/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Just found a good one that works great with a cable connection: https://reincubate.com/camo/. Source: over 1 year ago
Maybe try Reincubate Camo, a software to use the iPhone as camera which is independent of Apple's continuity. I used it on windows when working at home in 2020 and 2021 during pandemic, and it had quite good video quality superior to built in cam of my laptop. They have it also for MacOS. Maybe it's compatible with your MacBook Pro. Source: over 1 year ago
I know you said you don’t want to use continuity camera but if you had an iPad or spare phone (doesn’t need to have a sim), you could use Camo. Source: almost 2 years ago
I started with Droidcam during the pandemic and switched to Iriun. Currently using it with an old iPhone SE over USB, but also used with Huawei P20 Pro. Not many features, but just works. https://iriun.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I clamp the lasergun and my phone (with little stands and clamps like this , with the phone's cam pointing at the gun "nozzle") on my adjustable standing desk, then sit with my back in front of it, looking at my laptop on my lap that shows a stream from my smartphone cam (iriun.com). For webcam I suggest a cellphone(s) and the droidcam or iruin software. Plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to set it up. Its pretty easy and I've used some very old cellphones with decent picture quality. Source: almost 2 years ago
If you have {Windows, Mac Linux} and {Android, iOS}, you can use Iriun: https://iriun.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Download and install a free program called Iriun Webcam from https://iriun.com -- This will be used later, you need an unused audio device for routing purposes, I like Iriun because it's free and I've never had any trouble with it, it also has four channels which can be useful.
